Back Care for the workplace

Back Care Awareness and Managing Back Pain

This is a 60 minute face to face practical course designed to provide participants with an understanding of good back care, what can contribute to back pain, and how they can manage it.  


The session will consist of two parts; exploring lifestyle factors that are associated with an increased risk of back pain, followed by a practical session.  Participants will be guided through a series of Pilates based exercise that will focus on stretching and strengthening of the muscles that support or impact on the back.  


Taking a small amount of time to build these exercises into everyday routine will not only improve posture, flexibility and core strength, it can also help you to feel better by relieving stress and tension!


The course is ideal for a maximum of 20 participants, although please ensure sufficient space is provided for participants to be able to participate in the practical session comfortably. 


Exercise will be inclusive and appropriately modified to suit all participants attending the course.

Participant Information

  • Participants will be required to complete a health screen form prior to the course. 
  • Participants will need to bring a yoga/pilates mat or a thick towel and a cushion for comfort. 
  • Participants should wear suitable clothing so they can participate in the exercises during the session.   

How much is the course and how many can attend?

Each course delivery costs £150.00 plus mileage costs from Arnold, Nottinghamshire charged at 0.65p per mile.   

This cost is inclusive of handouts to support the session content.

Course Tutor

The course is delivered by Charlotte Hashim, expert Fitness and Wellbeing Practitioner and Pilates Instructor with over 16 years experience working in various roles, most recently for five years as the Occupational Health Fitness Advisor in the Fire Service, and previously as the Lead Physical Activity Specialist on a weight management service.

Participants will receive a detailed handout, which demonstrates all of the exercises covered in the online session, so they can be reminded on how to  perform the exercises correctly. 

A Daily Tracker

Participants will receive a daily tracker so they can keep a record of their activities each day, including regular breaks of sedentary periods and their water intake.
